HAES-Aligned Care

“HAES” stands for Health-At-Every-Size. HAES is an approach to care that honors body diversity and experiences with health and wellness regardless of size.

HAES principles highlight the right of all people to obtain comprehensive and non-judgmental healthcare regardless of weight and size, and that “health” is a sociopolitical construct that often reflects capitalist, white supremacist, and classist ideologies. HAES-aligned care emphasizes and respects bodily autonomy, compassionate care, and challenges societal and internalized fatphobia.

At Indigo Moon Counseling, I strive to create a safe space for all bodies and honor each individual's bodily wisdom regardless of size or health status. I encourage clients to define health and wellness on their own terms rather than according to ever-changing societal expectations. My practice actively rejects fatphobia in all its forms and supports clients in cultivating a relationship with their bodies rooted in self-compassion, autonomy, and dignity.
